During this workshop, the participants will explore themes in three areas:<\/p>\n
We will hear from experts and participants will engage in discussion to develop agreement on what constitutes the state of the art for use of AR to deliver technical data in 2014. This will be documented in a brief, joint statement. Participants will then develop consensus on three major research areas on which there must be further investment in order for the technology to be widely implemented and adopted.<\/p>\n
We will hear from experts and participants will engage in discussion to develop agreement on what constitutes the state of the art for use of AR to map value streams and increase value, to avoid waste and increase sustainability, and to reduce risk and prevent human error on the shop floor in 2014. This will be documented in a brief, joint statement. Participants will then develop consensus on three major research areas on which there must be further investment in order for the technology to be widely implemented and adopted on the shop floor.<\/p>\n
During this portion of the workshop, we will hear from experts and discuss topics relating to the application of Augmented Reality to quality inspection and field service. \u00a0Specific areas of consideration will be the use 3D models on tablets, cellphones and other handheld devices at the point of use in controlled factory environments, and field locations where the environment is more variable. \u00a0We will discuss types of augmentation that are best suited to these applications \u2013 including model cutaways, virtual x-rays, animations, transparency issues and the use of dynamic content. \u00a0In addition we will consider usability factors as technologists and AR experts develop tools for end users who are under tight schedule constraints. \u00a0Following our discussions, participants will develop consensus on three major research areas on which there must be further investment in order for the technology to be widely implemented and adopted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
